Putah Creek Winery Welcomes Community For Tasting Room Anniversary
DAVIS, CA. May 13th, 2015 - Putah Creek Winery welcomed more than 180 attendees at its tasting room one year anniversary reception on Friday evening in Downtown Davis. Local business leaders, community members, and wine club members celebrated this meaningful milestone of the winery.
Guests enjoyed a complimentary glass of their newly released Sauvignon Blanc. “The grapes of this [Sauvignon Blanc] come from our South Davis vineyard next to the winery, the Gist Vineyard, so you are truly having a taste of Davis,” stated Managing Partner Jessica Chin Foo. Since 2006, Putah Creek Winery has been introducing Davis terroir with their award winning wines.
Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor recognized the value of the winery in downtown Davis and sees it as a catalyst for the development of similar activities. Don says, “It’s a happening place […] we really enjoy coming for the events, we enjoy the wines, the good conversation. We know that they support our community in so many ways.”
Putah Creek Winery supports a variety of charitable, educational, and other nonprofit organizations throughout the Yolo County community. Since the beginning of this year, the winery pioneered the Give Back Tuesday initiative where 15% of retail wine sales made on Tuesdays is donated to local nonprofit organizations. Ruy Laredo, Field Representative to Assembly member Bill Dodd, applauded the initiative and presented a California State Legislature Certificate of Recognition signed by California Senator Lois Wolk and Assembly Member Bill Dodd for the ongoing achievements and incredible support and service to their community.
Chamber of Commerce CEO Matt Yancey’s speech acknowledged Putah Creek Winery’s achievement in the local community affirming the tasting room’s influence on the community, and the involvement of Jessica Chin Foo in the Chamber. Managing Partner Diego Barison recognized and thanked all of their supporters, especially staff, the Glaeser and Gist Families, Hallmark Inn and the Youmans family, the Chamber of Commerce, officials, and guests.
